Be innovative to transform society – VC Charges Varsities

The Vice-Chancellor, of the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID), Prof. Aliyu Shugaba has charged Nigerian universities to think outside the system to tackle local and national challenges to transform society.

Shugaba disclosed this the during 1st International Conference organised by the faculty of management science, with the theme, ” Revolutionizing Management Skills for Economic Advancement and Capability Building in a Challenging Environment” held in Maiduguri yesterday.

According to him, there is an urgent need for training to enhance the capacity for effectiveness and efficiency to achieve their mandate with relevant stakeholders in the area of teaching, learning, research, innovation and development to provide an enabling environment for effective academic activities.

This is about revolutionizing and management skills in dynamic systems like this we need to be thinking outside the box and be able to give the whole world what they want in terms of suggestions, tackling national challenges and moving things forward. 

“It is an indication that peace has returned and it is also an indication that UNIMAID is living up to expectations, we want to be a university of opportunities, for us to rise above the bars, we must research and present academic papers that what universities in eyes the whole world,” Shugaba said.

Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Dean Faculty of Management Sciences, Prof. Mohammed Madawaki noted that training was organised to re-energise the workforce and provide a better platform to address challenges in the 21st century.
