Borno South: PDP Senatorial Candidate raise alarm over delays tactics of election results

 By Bakura Umaru

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senatorial candidate for Borno South, Hon. Kudla Satumari has raised an alarm about a plan to rob him of the alleged mandate he was given.

Satumari in a statement on Monday evening said there was a grand plan by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to manipulate the election results of some areas in Borno South senatorial district where the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) was not administered.

He claimed he was ahead in places where BVAs were administered, but the APC has started bringing massively manipulate result which gives them an advantage over the places where BVAs was not used.

He queried that: “Why are results not uploaded, announced 48 hours after the elections, why did many polling units paper work not have senatorial candidates’ result sheets until very late after the threat of stopping the voting process by the agitated voters?

“We have concrete evidence to prove that elections were conducted in some areas of Southern Borno without the use of BVAs in Gwoza, Shani, Bayo, Damboa and Kwaya Kusar were some areas most affected.

“I have personally called and notified the INEC state REC of the non-usage of BVAs for accreditation in Ngoshe, Gwoza local government area when it was first observed before more evidence poured in.

“Consequently, the good people of southern Borno and I will resist any attempt by any individual, group or agency of government to violate the provisions of the electoral act to disrupt the peaceful election process in which I am already leading in areas where elections were properly conducted by the provisions of the new electoral act using BVAs for accreditation.

“This situation has been escalated to the highest authority. We urge INEC not to declare the results of contentious areas of Southern Borno but consider outright cancellations of fraudulent results obtained from the violation of the electoral act.

He said: “We will do everything within our capacity to defend the mandate freely given to us by our people. I ask all our supporters to remain calm and await the outcome of our engagements to address the issue.” he warned.
