The Governorship Candidate of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Taraba state, Professor Sani Muhammed Yahaya has pledged that he will support Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited(NNPC) to search for oil and gas in Taraba state if elected as a governor of the state.
He made the pledge in Jalingo at the weekend that if elected governor of the state he do all his best in ensuring that gas and oil exploration carried out by NNPC.
According to him, the state shared a common boundary with Bauch, Gombe and Nasarawa states where deposit of petroleum and gas was discovered.
He said search for oil and gas was conducted few years ago in Taraba state and there was strong indication that Taraba as its neighbouring states have deposit of petroleum and gas.
He said there was high hope that exploration activities by Nigeria National petroleum company will resume in the state and if elected he support such project.
The Director of Media and publicity of the campaign council of professor Sani Muhammed Yahaya, Engineer Ahmed Zakari Nguroje, also speaking on the blue print of professor Sani Yahaya, said the NNPP gubernatorial candidate in Taraba has good plan for the development of the state.
He said that NNPP government in Taraba will ensure the deposit of petroleum and gas in the state is fully exploited for which the state stand to benefit more revenue from the federation account.
“Oil deposit was discovered around Kambari area in Karim_Lamido and professor Sani Muhammed Yahaya is fully commiteed to see that Taraba joint oil producing state in the near future” he said.
According to him, if professor Sani Muhammed Yahaya is elected governor of the state he will provided the necessary support to NNPC to fully exploit the oil and gas resources in the state.
He said the Mambilla hydro power project will equally receive the support of Taraba state government in order to ensure its execution.
Eng.Ahmed Nguroje, stated that professor Sani Yahaya regarded the Mambilla hydro power project as very important to the economic development of Taraba state and therefore if elected governor of the state he will do his best to ensure the realization of the project.
“The multi billion Naira Mambilla power project could not start because there was no political will by Taraba state and NNPP government under the leadership of professor Sani Yahaya is committed towards providing all the necessary support and political will to enable for actualization of the project.
He therefore urged the electorates in the state to come out on March 18 to elect professor Sani Yahaya in order to usher in an era of good governance through fairness and Justice.
