Federal University, Gashua has on Saturday matriculated a total number of 1, 872 newly admitted students into various disciplines for the 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 academic year.
This was disclosed by the Vice-Chancellor of the institution Professor Maimuna Waziri at the occasion of the university’s 8th matriculation ceremony.
Waziri, has declared that the university has a name to protect and zero tolerance for culticism, examination malpractice, indecent dressing, demonstration, corruption, thuggery, harassment, all forms of abuse, stealing, hooliganism and other forms of social vices capable of disrupting students’ attention to the pursuit of their academic success.
The breakdown of the figure indicated that a total of 1,669 UTME and 203 DE students were admitted for the 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 academic sessions.
She stressed that based on the summary of the admissions for the two sets, the institution has admitted students from 34 states of the federation and Abuja, adding that the admission of students from various states indicates a good mixture based on Federal Character principle.
“You should note that FUGA is not a dumping ground for admission seekers but a place where all students would be judged based on the quality of our programs and their performance,” she said.
The hallmark of FUGa is academic excellence. “I therefore urge you to work hard and avoid any act that is not in conformity with the university’s rules and regulations as well as societal norms, because anyone found guilty shall be made to face the wrath of the law,” she added.
When administering the matriculation oath to the newly admitted students, the university Registrar, Dr. Abubakar Mamuda, said that any student involved in any form of misconduct in the course of their academic pursuit should have his or her admission determined by the school authority.
