Following the jostle for Speakership position in the Yobe State House of Assembly, a group under the aegis of the Yobe Progressive Concerned Citizens (YPCC) has appealed to the All Progressives Congress (APC), to back the member representing Damaturu 2 Constituency, Hon Buba Ibrahim Kalallawa, for the position of a Speaker in the House of Assembly.
The group through Chairman Abdullahi Mohammed made the call during an interview with newsmen in Potiskum town of the state on Wednesday.
Describing Kalallawa as a ranking lawmaker tailor-made for the job, the group said he is one of the most experienced and qualified to lead the House having being in the Chamber for 23 years.
According to the group, testimonies of Kalallawa’s selflessness, kind-heartedness and love for his people have spread across the State.

“This young man has achieved more than his contemporaries. As a trained auditor, accountant and public administrator, he has judiciously used limited resources at his disposal to affect lives of his constituents,” the group Chair said.
“He facilitated the provision of numerous infrastructure within the constituency. One good thing about him is that he is well oriented with local politics, well connect with the grassroots as well as contributing immensely and prolifically at all sittings. He is very constructive in pursuing the needs of his constituents and has a smooth relationship with all the other arms of the government, he takes his time to read and study anything presented before the house”
Some of his achievements in the chambers include sponsoring of private bills for amendment of penal court to increase punishment on rape and kidnapping, prime mover of other bills particularly VAAP law, Child Protection Law in Yobe, People Living With Disability Law, Administration for Criminal Law in Yobe among other paramount issues.
The group said that the experience, influence and exposure of Kalallawa will be crucial in the Yobe State Legislative chambers, having been a key member since 2000.
The YPCC, however, concluded that with his well-crafted agenda, Kalallawa will address the plethora of challenges restraining the House of Assembly in Yobe State..
